Baby Rain | November Donation
This month’s "LCC Gives Back” donation is a little different and very close to home. A very dear friend of mine, Ahed and her husband Jonathan—whom we met at our church several years ago—recently received devastating news: her second daughter, whom they are currently expecting, has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that will require immediate open heart surgery after birth. I knew I wanted our monetary donation for this month to go to them.
I asked Ahed if she'd like to say a few words and she sent me this:
"My name is Ahed McQueen and our baby girl coming December 14th was diagnosed with the second most complex congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriousus. 1 out of every 100 children born, are born with a congenital heart defect, many are mild and resolve themselves on their own but some are very critical and require lifelong care and intervention. Truncus Arteriousus requires the very invasive open heart surgery a few days after baby is born, alongside multiple other open heart surgeries later in life and lifelong cardiovascular care and interventions. Truncus Arteriousus does not have a permanent cure and all repairs and interventions made are simply to extend and enhance quality of life. Our family believes in the power of God’s healing loving hand and that is what we cling on during this time of waiting as we prepare to welcome our baby girl named Rain and her very special heart journey in just a few more weeks. God chose us to care for her and we are honored. We are eternally thankful for Little Crowns and Capes for donating to our family’s journey with our sweet baby girl, and feel truly blessed to have such support from such an amazing group of people."
If you feel so inclined to help, prayers are so appreciated. If you are able to contribute financially, I will link Ahed & Jonathan's Go-Fund-Me here.
